Why Products for Mothers and Babies Are Necessary

ทำไมจำเป็นต้องมีผลิตภัณฑ์สำหรับแม่และเด็กโดยเฉพาะ

Products for mothers and babies require more careful consideration than general adult products. Newborn baby skin is delicate and sensitive, and is easily prone to allergies and irritation, especially from chemicals contained in various products. Newborn skin cells are not yet strong or flexible and can lose moisture more easily than skin at other ages, which causes baby skin to become dry easily.

For this reason, parents should carefully choose products that are suitable for their baby’s delicate skin, or select products that have passed hypoallergenic testing to ensure safety. This helps provide confidence that products used on babies will not cause harm and will support healthy skin and hygiene. This applies to soaps, creams, body lotions, toothpaste, and even household and laundry products, all of which should be selected with great care.

Products for pregnant mothers are another important concern, as they may affect the baby. Skin problems commonly occur during the first three months of pregnancy due to hormonal changes, particularly increased estrogen and progesterone levels. These changes may cause skin darkening in certain areas such as the groin, underarms, and abdomen. Some women may develop dark spots, melasma, or freckles on the face, while others may experience acne caused by increased oil production, leading to clogged pores. As a result, pregnant women need to pay closer attention to skincare and cosmetic products.

Before deciding which skincare products can or cannot be used, absorption of ingredients into the bloodstream must be considered. Some cosmetic ingredients can be absorbed through the skin, enter the bloodstream, and pass through the placenta to the fetus, potentially causing abnormalities. Therefore, every product applied during pregnancy must be carefully evaluated.

This includes creams, serums, essences, toners, and sunscreens, which must be free from prohibited ingredients such as:

  • Mercury

  • Hydroquinone

  • Vitamin A (Retinol)

  • Other vitamin A derivatives, including retinoic acid, retinaldehyde, and retinyl esters (retinyl propionate, retinyl palmitate)

Pregnant women should strictly avoid these ingredients.
